Truth About The Six Pack Abs

Truth About The Six Pack Abs

It has got to be one of the most sought after aspects of physique improvement; getting that elusive set of 6 pack abs. You know there are a LOT of people who want them, because otherwise you wouldn’t be seeing a million and one different products and infomercials telling you that THIS is the one thing you want… no, the one thing you NEED to have in order to get that six pack you’ve been after for so long. And guess what? It’ll only take you 1 minute per day, every third day (and if you really don’t feel like doing it once or twice, that’s OK too), and before you know it you’ll have the magazine cover model agents knocking down your door asking you to pose for their rag. However, you may be too busy fighting off all the women who are now swarming over you because of your sexy mid-section. And when you’re not doing that, you’ll be busy helping other guys, giving them tips and inspiration so that maybe, just maybe, one day they can have abs like you.

Hey. HEY! Wake up! It ain’t gonna happen like that! If you believe for a moment that some kind of device that HELPS you do crunches (i.e. Makes it easier for you, not harder), is going to give you great abs, well… then I have a bridge I’d like to sell you!

The truth is we all have 6 pack abs; check out a human anatomy book some time. The problem is, they’re covered by a thick layer of fat. For some of us, that layer is thicker than for others. The key is to get your body fat percentage down low enough so that you can see the definition of those abs, just barely under the skin. Sure, doing exercises to build up your ab muscles is good, but if you keep all that extra fat on top of really built up abs, all you’ll do is have a bigger belly!

No matter what, having strong abs is good. It helps with your posture and will protect your lower back. So don’t ignore working your abs by any means. However, don’t expect that doing a million crunches, whether on the floor or on the Wunder-Ab-Matic 7000x or some other device, and then going and having burgers, pizza and beer, will leave you with your abs forever tucked away under that layer of belly fat.

If you want to see your abs, get your diet in order. Eat right, and get a little extra boost from some high quality supplements like resveratrol.

Do you like to run or jog? Have you ever asked yourself what type of a runner you really are? Are you a competitive runner, do you run for fun, or do you run because you know that exercise will help you live longer, and stay healthier? Well, if you’ve ever wondered about this, there’s a very good book I’d like to recommend to you, one that I have in my own personal library. The name of the book is;

“Run Farther-Runs Faster-Racing with Joe Henderson” by Joe Henderson and Runner’s world.

“The beast lives within me” this is the type of runner who wants to race, compete, and win. When he starts to run he turns into a different person with rage and irrational emotion, one who is completely never tamed. Every day he runs, he runs all out as if he was racing – whether it is an actual race or not; it’s the same thing. This type of runner is not your average jogger. The differences between these types of runners to use an analogy is; a Gazelle versus a Tiger.

Joe Henderson has written several great books on running and is considered the father of LSD; Long Slow Distance. And he’s written several other excellent books too;

  • Run Gentle Run Long”
  • “Long-Run Solution”
  • “Long Slow Distance; but Human Way to Train”

Today he says that “I run to avoid the crowds rather than increase its size by one.”

Running for fun is better than jogging to stay in shape or running to compete to win. “You can’t stay on top forever” and you must understand the evolution of your running. I believe this book is not for everyone some beginning runners might be better off buying the book “Jog, Run, Race!” As this is what the author recommends, because he knows he is not your typical runner.

Joe tells us that running is not the perfect sport, as everyone in the race cannot win, and you cannot always get to your personal best. This book was written for non-winners and the new paradigm in our society, we’re just getting by is good enough in my opinion.

Of course, I’m the type of runner who runs to win and that is all, and yes when I run I am a different person, I feel like I own the world and I accelerate like a banshee out of control, and God help anyone that gets in my way. I am that type of runner, so I hated this book. However, I recommend this book for all other runners that are not like me, and since that’s pretty much everyone, there’s no wonder it sold so many copies.

Truth About 6 Packs Abs

Q1. I work hard in the gym but can’t lose any fat. I guess it’s just my bad genes, right?

Wrong. Lot’s of people give up in their quest for six pack abs just because they think that they have ‘bad’ genes. But the truth about six pack abs is that the workout routine you follow and the foods that you eat are the real reason that you can’t get six pack abs, not your genes.

If you get these two factors right then you will be burning fat and showing off those lean abdominal muscles in no time.

Which brings me nicely on to question 2…

Q2. If I really want 6 pack abs, do I have to spend hours every week on slow, boring cardio?

The fitness industry has brainwashed us all into thinking that we have to spend hours on the treadmill, bike or elliptical trainer if we want to get lean and really lose that belly fat.

But how many people do you know that have actually managed to get ripped six pack abs with all of this cardio? And more importantly, has it actually worked for you?

By the way, it is true that cardio training burns a higher percentage of fat during exercise than sprints or weight training.

However, circuit training, weight training and sprints create a hormonal fat burning response in your body that lasts for up to 2 whole days after you workout.

Not only that but your RMR (resting metabolic rate) will remain elevated for up to 2 days after each workout too. This is down to your body repairing the muscles used whilst working out.

Compare this to cardio where the positive effects last only 1-2 hours post workout.

As you can see, the residual fat burning effects of anaerobic workouts far outweigh those of the slow, boring cardio.

Did you know that too much cardio can actually cause you to lose muscle mass? This will reduce your RMR and actually make it harder for you to burn belly fat.

As you can see, the real truth is that cardio is not the only way to get six pack abs.

Q3. I really want to get six pack abs, but I am petrified of the gym. I’d love to workout at home but can’t possibly afford the equipment. What do I do?

First of all, you don’t have to be a gym member in order to workout. In fact, I personally haven’t held a gym membership in the past 4 years. And my best results have come from working out at home. So it can be done.

Second of all I just wanted to let you know how inexpensive it has been to build up my home exercise equipment. Don’t worry about needing all of those hyper expensive, home workout gimmicks.

All that you really need to begin with is a stability ball and a couple of dumbbells. As you build up you can add a bench and some heavier free weights to your collection.

Why not try checking out some online auction sites for some high quality second hand stuff. You might save yourself a bunch of money.

I’ve probably spent no more than about $250 over the last 4 years getting my equipment together. That’s only about $60 a year! And I’ve got more than enough to be getting along with.

Do you want to learn the real Truth About Abs? I’ll show you exactly what foods to eat and which exercises to do. But before your visit I must warn you, open your mind and prepare to re-learn everything you thought you knew about how to get a six pack.
